Westminster School Principal Dieter Witzke will speak about the Westminster School Breakfast Program: its inception, its implementation and its hopes for the future.
This session will also feature the Westminster School Children’s Choir singing carols from Germany, France, England and the Ukraine. Costumed soloists and audience participation will add to the festivities.
Studies show that well-nourished children perform better in school. Their ability to concentrate and learn improves. Undernourished children have difficulty focusing, have lower self-esteem and are absent more often from school. Following lunch and carols there will be a question period during which time Principal Witzke will answer questions about the Breakfast Program.
“When a child’s stomach is empty, everything else is secondary. Before developing a thirst for knowledge and a hunger for learning, one must first satisfy the body’s thirst and hunger. That is the challenge faced by our society.” – Romeo LeBlanc, former Governor General of Canada.
