Everybody knows the Alberta government is debt free, but just how secure is the current financial position of the Alberta Government? Is there a plan for long-term financial sustainability? Is our reliance on resource revenues helping or hurting us? The Alberta director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation will address these questions and more. He will consider how increased savings of non-renewable resource revenues, as well as control over spending, could put the province on a path to lower taxes and a more sustainable government.

Scott Hennig is the Alberta director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. Prior to accepting the position in 2005, Scott worked as a speechwriter and public policy researcher with the Government Members’ Research Branch at the Alberta Legislature in Edmonton. He is a graduate of the University of Alberta where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.
Scott is active in his hometown of Fort Saskatchewan where he has served on various boards and committees. He is a founding member of the Fort Saskatchewan Urban Forest Committee and during the winter Scott referees hockey in the Edmonton area.
